Karaikal Struggle Group (KSG), an organisation fighting for Union Territory status for Karaikal enclave of Puducherry, has requested the Centre to send a fact finding team to study the "discrimination" faced by the area.
Ramasrinivasan, the founder member of the non-political organisation, alleged that Karaikal region was being neglected by the Puducherry Government.
"It is against the spirit of the Treaty of Cession of French Establishments, which was signed on 28-05-1956 by Government of India and France," he said.
The treaty said the people of Karaikal would contine to enjoy the benefits they were getting during the French rule.
