M.O.H. Farooq Maraicar Passed Away

முன்னாள் இந்தியத்தூதரும், தற்போதைய கேரள மாநில கவர்னருமான M.O.H. ஃபாரூக் மரைக்காயர் அவர்கள் இந்திய நேரப்படி இன்று இரவு 9:15க்கு சென்னை அப்போலோ மருத்துவமனையில் வைத்து மரணமடைந்துவிட்டார்கள்.

அவர்களின் நல்லடக்கம் இன்ஷா-அல்லாஹ் பாண்டிச்சேரியில் முழு அரசு மரியாதையுடன் நடக்க இருக்கிறது, எல்லாம் வல்ல அல்லாஹ் அன்னாரின் நல்லறங்களை ஏற்றுக் கொண்டு, குற்றங்களை மன்னித்து தன்னுடைய சுவனபதியில் நுழைய வைப்பானாக என்று துஆ செய்வதுடன், அவரின் பிரிவால் துயரப்படும் குடும்பத்தாருக்கும், உற்றார், உறவினர்கள் அனைவருக்கும் 'ஸப்ரன் ஜமீலா' எனும் அழகிய பொறுமையை தந்தருளவும் பிரார்த்திப்போமாக!.

''ஒவ்வொரு ஆத்மாவும் மரணத்தை சுவைத்தே தீரும், பின்னர் அனைவரும் என்னிடமே (இறைவனிடமே) மீளவேண்டியுள்ளது.'' (அல் குர் ஆன் 29 : 57)”

Profile of Late M.O.H. Farooq.

Born on 6th September 1937 at Karaikal (Pondichery), B.A. (Economics) at Loyola College, Chennai. He was appointed as the Indian Ambassador to Saudi Arabia in September 2004. In 2010, Farook was appointed as Governor of Jharkhand. He was appointed as Governor of Kerala on August 25, 2011. He is a Political and Social worker. He was a member, Pondichery Legislative Assembly from 1964-91 and also a Speaker, Legislative Assembly from 1964-67 and also 1980-85.

He was the Chief Minister of Pondichery during the period 1967-68, 1969-74 & 1985-90. He was also the Leader of opposition, Pondichery Legislative Assembly from March to December 1990. In 1991, he was elected to the Indian Parliament (Lok Sabha). He also served as a Union Minister of State for Civil Aviation and Tourism from June 1991 to December 1992. He was re-elected to the Parliament in 1996 and also in 1999.

He also held several other positions such as a member of Central Haj Committee, Mumbai (1975-2000), Public Accounts Committee of Parliament of India, Member of Parliamentary Standing Committee on Home Affairs, Member of Committee on Wakf Laws, Member, Joint Committee to enquire into Irregularities in Securities and Banking Transactions, Member Consultative Committee on Ministry of Science and Technology, Member, Committee on Members of Parliament, Local Area Development Scheme.

His special interests are Books, Women Welfare and Upliftment of the downtrodden. His favourite pastime and recreation are reading, sports, social work and horticulture. He visited many countries like Australia, France, Malaysia, Saudi Arabia, Syria, UK, USA and erstwhile USSR. He also attended world Tamil conference at Paris in 1970, Disarmament conference at Vienna, Seminar at Fletcher School of Law and Diplomacy, Harvard University, USA, Deputy Leader and Leader, Hajj Goodwill Delegation in 1987 and 1989 respectively. Visited Syria in 1991 for signing a protocol on tourism. He participated in struggle for liberation of Pondichery as a student during 1953-54 when Pondichery was a French colony.
